Rob Joyner | Sales Manager, Centerbase
After almost 5 years of working at Centerbase, there’s one memory that stands out to Rob Joyner more than anything else.
He was at the 2017 ABA TECHSHOW, and had just stepped on to an elevator. Making idle chat with another attendee, Rob had casually mentioned he was at the show with a company called Centerbase. After hearing that, the stranger’s eyes lit up with recognition and he struck up a conversation, knowing exactly who and what Centerbase was.
It was that moment of instant recognition that made a lasting impression on Rob. A memory that served as a testament to just how far the company had come since he’d joined so many years ago, before Centerbase had even entered the legal industry.
When Rob first began his career with Centerbase, the software was being used as an internal tool at Progression Technologies, an engineering software reseller. Being there to witness Centerbase breaking off and becoming its own business gave him the opportunity to help build the product from the ground-up, a challenge that he took on eagerly.
"I’ve always loved building things. I enjoy taking on big projects and watching them get across the finish line."
Moving Centerbase to the legal industry was one of the first projects Rob and John Forbes, the current Founder and CEO of Centerbase, took head-on. After visiting over 100 law firms, spending countless hours on the phone with attorneys, and doing everything they could to understand the needs of law firms, Centerbase was shaped into the full-featured practice management platform it is today.
“When John first asked me to move from Progression to Centerbase, I knew I was ready for a challenge. I've always been fascinated by the legal industry and was interested in joining a start-up, so it was the perfect opportunity."
Currently, Rob serves as the Sales Manager at Centerbase, but his responsibilities touch many corners of the business. Although his primary role is fostering relationships with new Clients and Partners or pushing deals through the door, his day-to-day activities range from hopping on support calls to assisting in operational tasks.
Additionally, Rob leads the overall marketing direction and strategy at Centerbase - bringing together his love for creation and technology.
His unique role in the company translates to his passion for making waves in the legal industry, and as one of the first employees to witness Centerbase becoming what it is today, he’s excited to see what’s in store for the future.
"What sets us apart is the 15 years that’s gone into making a flexible platform. This flexibility allows Centerbase to evolve with the firm as they continue to grow and change.”
Moving forward, Rob continues to look forward to moments like the one he had at the ABA TECHSHOW, when he can see the years of hard work materializing into meaningful relationships and large-scale recognition. Becoming the go-to software for mid-sized firms is a milestone Rob's excited to be a part of because it means giving those firms a home after years of searching for the right product.
