Employee Feature - December
Samhita Gottipolu | Junior Developer
When Samhita was young, she envisioned herself with a career in the medical field. However, after years of watching her older brother’s passion for working with computers, she found herself not only intrigued but inspired.
Seeing the passion and happiness that came from her older brother’s work as a software developer at a leading CRM company eventually grew into a passion of her own.
Witnessing the types of projects he was working on and experiencing the excitement and creativity that went into developing new features led her to take a similar path.
She decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and hasn’t looked back since.
"My brother had a major influence on where I am right now. I thought to myself 'I think I should just try computer science and see how it goes,' and now I’m so happy about the decision."
Years later - after completing her M.S. in Computer Science as well as an internship at a medical software company, Samhita became a full-time junior developer at Centerbase.
As a junior developer, Samhita’s role includes improving Centerbase’s features, brainstorming with other developers to find solutions, addressing Client’s feedback, and most notably - developing new features.
One of the first and most profound projects Samhita tackled when she first joined the Centerbase team was the ability to add recurring activities to a calendar. Today, it’s one of the most-used features in Centerbase.
The journey that the feature has taken - from its initial first stages to its beta launch, to what it is today - is what makes it Samhita’s favorite project so far. Although the project started out simple enough, factors like time zone changes and an integration with Outlook 365’s calendar made the project an exciting challenge.
"[Adding recurring activities to the calendar] was a huge learning experience for me and it really helped me grow a lot here."
Having the opportunity to create or refine a feature, and being there to witness a smooth rollout and the satisfaction of a client is Samhita’s favorite part about being a developer.
“It gives me the best feeling knowing that my features are working and that clients are using them,” she explained.
Samhita’s spent a little over two years with Centerbase, and she anticipates the continuation of growth she expects to see in the company.
"Centerbase is growing so fast and I think in the next couple years I can keep seeing the company grow in terms of numbers and in terms of employees. "
Until then, Samhita enjoys translating the same passion and enthusiasm she saw in her brother to her own career.
