Jeffrey Smith | Junior Developer, Centerbase
JUNIOR DEVELOPER, CENTERBASE
Jeffrey’s love for computers and programming has been a driving force in his life for as long as he can remember. With a computer engineer as a father, his interest was easily peaked. In fact, he even brought a circuit board schematics to his school’s show-and-tell.
His interest quickly developed into a full-time hobby, and he began writing his own programs as early as middle school. But his passion wasn’t a short-lived childhood phase. Today, Jeffrey’s passion fuels his career.
Currently, Jeffrey works as a junior developer at Centerbase. Before joining the team at Centerbase, Jeffrey worked with a company to develop a GPS system and also worked with an insurance education company as a web developer. In his spare time, he led the development of an open-source 3D animation tool used by thousands of amateur animators.
Throughout his different roles - whether they involved programming or development - one factor remained constant: the fun of the challenge. To Jeffrey, this is the best part.
He compares his role as a programmer to the act of solving a puzzle. Developing a program requires a series of steps, each one bringing him one step closer to the rewarding end result.
"The best moment is when all the pieces fit together and it suddenly just works (I like to give a quick cheer and fist pump here.)”
On the surface level, Jeffrey’s role as a junior developer involves addressing software problems and adding new features to Centerbase. However, his role encompasses a much larger part of the company as well. He also brainstorms design concepts, helps translate new ideas into code, and shares his findings with the development team.
For Jeffrey, the unique position Centerbase holds in the industry provides an exciting opportunity. Being a relatively new member of the legal technology industry means employees can come in and truly make a difference in the direction of the company, which is something he looks forward to as the company continues to grow.
